Domynik Huot

Jokulsarlon

Domynik completed two Honours Bachelor of Arts degrees: one in Sports Psychology at Laurentian University in Sudbury in May 2021, and another in Geography at the University of Ottawa in October 2023, where he was awarded the Governor General’s Academic Silver Medal. His passion for glaciology started on the GEG4100 (Glaciology) field course in Iceland during his final year of undergraduate studies.

Domynik’s deep appreciation for remote locations and his strong attachment to his Métis heritage led him to pursue a MSc in Geography under the supervision of Dr. Luke Copland (University of Ottawa) and Dr. Karen Alley (University of Manitoba). His research, conducted in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and local Indigenous communities, focuses on the multi-decadal mass balance and velocity changes of outlet glaciers from Penny Ice Cap on southern Baffin Island, Canadian Arctic. Outside of his academic pursuits, Domynik enjoys competitive soccer, cooking, cycling, and backcountry camping.
